So today I come home and walk into my room to find a brand new Fender Delux Hot Rod III sitting in the middle of my floor.
Image
But I have an issue, I don't know what all of the knobs MEAN! I know the controll the sound, I know volume and Bass, but not much else, help?
The knobs and buttons are, in order;
normal bright-button
volume-knob
more drive-button
drive-knob
treble-knob
bass-knob
middle-knob
channel select-button
master-knob
reverb-knob
presence-knob
and also, there was a little foot switch that came with the amp, and it has channel select an drive/more drive.
I know I should probobly already know this, but I don't, so please help!

It's hard to explain in a post how the controls work and what they do.Basically the master volume controls the volume of the entire amp and both channels at once. The volume controls on each channel control only the volume of that channel.NOTE:If you have your master volume turned down low and the volume of the channel turned up high the sound will become distorted.I'm not familiar with that model amp but the drive knobs act as a modified volume knob and add more "Crunch" to the sound. The treble and bass tone controls are self explainitory. The presence control is an enhancement knob for the tone circuit too,a lot of people can't even notice that it makes a difference.Reverb is basically an echo -like sound that gives the illusion of being in a large hall and the sound is bouncing off the walls.

Your best bet is to go to your local music store and see if they have an owners manual for that model or if they can order it for you.A lot of companies print their complete owners manuals and have them available at their website-Vox does this for all its amps.If you poked around the Fender site you may find it does too.

trwells, this is the manual for a Hot Rod Delux. The controls should be similar, hope this helps. :D

Thanks guys! I'm sorry I have to ask some pretty stupid questions, I should know all of this, but I've never taken a lesson, and I just got an electric.

Thanks!

Looks like you got a nice amp, Tessa. In a previous thread just about all of us told you the key to learning was to practice. While you're spending all of those hours practicing, play with the settings to see what they do. One bit of advice, get a notebook to help you remember what you liked best.

You're welcome. it's only by experience that I come up with good ideas. Keep working, I know a lot of us are looking forward to your next video.

One more thing, don't get overly critical of yourself, you're headed in the right direction.

That is a nice little amp you have there. All Tube...Should make for some killer sounds. Someone has already sent you some information on the controls and operation of the amp. Now you get to play around with it and find your tone with it. I envey you, again congrats.

You young kids that are showing a serious Desire to learn and play music are giving us older players a lot to smile about. Congrats on the new amp. 8)

trwells, I am sure you know this already; but that is a real quality piece of equipment you got there. Anybody here would love to have it and you will never outgrow it.

I figure I have a clue about this because my folks got me a 1966 Blackface Deluxe Reverb new. It cost $237.00. I have played it ever since.
