Hi Folks,it's that time of year again where people go around making merry celebrating Christmas and other observances that take place about this time.IT also is a time of year where an inordinate number of people are tempted to drive after drinking. Our province has zero tolerence for drinking and driving.Anything from 0.01-0.08 will get your car impounded and your licence revoked for at least 24 hrs, above that the fines and imprisonment can get downright scarey. One judge in particular is very much against drunk drivers and hands down the maximum the law will allow every time.

I have lost 2 people close to me because of people driving drunk and each case the driver was a 3 time offender and coincidently both were awaiting trial for causing injury from driving drunk. If you are gigging or just going to a friends house please leave your vehicle if you take a drink. If you see anyone trying to drive after having too much to drink do whatever it takes to stop them-you may be saving lives.Have a great Christmas etc. but please make sure that you're around for the New Year!!!!

Many was the night that I Drove home with one eye aimed at the center line. I don't know how I was lucky enough to have escaped the terrible things that folks do while under the influance, of Alcohol & or Drugs. So many of my friends were not so lucky. Some are not Alive any longer. For the sake and well being of all of us Please don't (DRINK AND DRIVE) Have a safe and happy holiday season. 8)

One thing that bothers me when I'm playing in clubs,is the people I see that are drunk, and you just know they're going to get behind the wheel.

Oh, man, I hear you! Half the time I wonder how they're ever going to find their car, let alone start it up and drive away. A number of the bars I played in MN were notorious for having cops waiting in the dark around the corner at closing time. I never felt too sorry for the drunks they nailed in the wee hours. Never having been a drinker myself, I just tried to concentrate on getting away from the parking lot before the demolition derby started.

Drinking and driving is always a bad idea, but so is distracted driving cell phones, GPS, and many other things can lead to bad endings. Please be careful and always wear a seatbelt for you and your family.

This is the best advertisement I have ever seen supporting seatbelt use. It is definately worth a minute and a half of your time.

CRGuitarman...I'm like you,I stay sober, and at any one of the places we play, the cops could have a field day when people are leaving,I try to leave as quickly as I can when the gig is over and I'm packed, the ones who are the leftovers at closing time are some of the very worst offenders.
About ten years ago a drunk woman left a bar here, and was in the wrong lane without her headlights on,she hit a car head on with some of my son's friends in it and she was killed, they all suffered some severe injuries, but survived...thank goodness.
Another one of his friends wasn't so lucky, she was hit head on by a drunk who was on the wrong side of the interstate.
When you're on the road late at night, anything can happen.

I never drink when we play out, gotten to be a big fan of O'doul's Amber N/A beer, or Diet Dew if that's not available. Our singer likes to have a couple and since he lives by me I do the driving and we get home safe. Our guitarist and drummer live close enough and the guitarist is a devoted non-drinker so we're set on our side.

We usually consider tear down time the "cushion" to allow all the drunks to get off the road before we leave.

Be safe out there. 8)
