I was watching the links on the "Derek & The Dominos Video" thread, and saw the Microfrets guitar that Carl Perkins was playing...

I've read a lot about those axes, but has anyone here ever played one?

I know the company wasn't successful, but were the guitars any good?

I've never even seen one in person, at least not that I can remember...

They are back in business. I believe they are in the Frederick, MD area like they were the first time. The links I have found are a little confusing (to me at least). Here is one with some good pictures...I mean guitar porn:

My aunt and uncle live in Frederick. It's about an hour away from my house, I'll have to check it out :P

I lived in the Whittier development in Frederick for eight years. Loved the place and the people. :D

I can't remember the name of their hood, but it's directly off the highway.

The fact that Martin Gore from Depeche Mode played one ought to tell you everything you need to know.

I have played one, sound was thin and the feel was ok, but it felt cheap and well for me they are just so fugly! IMHO!
