I'm a surfer and a skateboarder. When you're carving down the line on a wave and it jacks up in front of you as it's ready to come crashing down, your first instinct is to head to the bottom (take the low line) but that just means you end up getting behind it and either get pounded or have to end up going straight and it's pretty much over.

But if instead you go higher up the wave, you generate more speed because the wave's curling over kind of pushes you on, plus you have the potential to go back down the face any time you want to go even faster. It's counterintuitive to head up into the danger zone when things start getting critical instead of retreating away from it, but that's the secret to getting past the section and shooting on down the line. (I still have to remind myself of this sometimes).

And when I'm skating empty swimming pools, I'd rather take the highline and fly into the air or grind the coping than stay down low on the wall. Same basic principle applies: the higher you go, the faster you go and speed, as they say, is life.

jaknzax is "Jack and Zack's"-I'm Jack and my son's name is Zachary. We had a small sports card business "Jaknzax Sports Cardz" in the early 90s to 2002 and when I started using the computer it was a logical ID and still use it although the sports card business died for all intents and purposes.

It's also the sound an armadillo makes before a car hits them... :P

That's cool...to be honest, I thought your user name was an Onomatopoeia...I thought you were trying to write out the sound that comes through your amp when you stick the plug into your guitar..."JAKNZAX...BZZZT!"

When there were players like James Jamerson around, who he listed as an influence, I didn't want to start a debate on the subject. To me, he is the greatest.

I always used to be known as ollyclam in the town i used to live in, my band at the time was called `clams` and my names olly. Played in many bands before and a few since, but i know what most people who know me know me for and am happy to stick with it.

Am aware what clams mean to lots of people  as my old band was quite hairsute, we often had comments about hairy clams....

+1
I don't know why they are so maligned by so many people. :?

Depending on the player, they usually sounded good to me!
