Dino, Fender has listened to you: the lovely Strat® has disappeared

I noticed that; the post from ME mentioning how it was a CS model has disappeared also - perhaps it should never have been posted!

Alain, it's the 25th anniversary of the Fender Custom Shop next year, right?

Correct.

George, I gotta hand it to you - you have an exceptional eye and the way you went with abalone markers instead of the obvious pearl ones to match the pearl guard was a master stroke.

I wouldn't buy it.

For the record, my idea of beauty is a black strat with maple board... nothing fancy.
The guitar is already completely beautiful and doesn't need pearl, or flame or gold hardware... but hey, to each his own, right?!

It's like you wouldn't add a gold spirit of ecstasy to a Rolls Royce, right?

HAHA - I think this sums up what I'm trying to say!

Thanks.

You know, maybe that Strat pic was a lucky sneak preview...

I thought you might, Alain!

Okay, think of someone cool....

Keith Richards, Jimmy Page, Rory Gallagher, SRV, Hendrix... they wouldn't be seen dead playing that guitar.

Alain is cool enough for me, and he obviously plays some pretty slick axes...

I wouldn't mind seeing a tobacco sunburst, sort of in the same tone as Big John Duncan's Les Paul. (If you don't know him, look up The Exploited.) None of the other tobacco sunbursts look like that to me. Just something about the look that I like.

What's more, just supposing you did see one of them playing anything like that... wouldn't your heart sink a bit?

If you enjoy it, for playing or displaying or whatever, that's great. Not for me, though...but thanks for posting the pic and it's always great to see what the custom shop are capable of producing.... however ostentatious and Sheikh-worthy that may be!

So I guess this isn't Stevie Ray playing his flame top Hamiltone....

My heart's sunk but thanks for the links, Mr Giggles!

Okay, ask yourself this - what one thing could you change in both those videos and by doing so improve them... a LOT?

Know what it is yet?

No, it's not the sound quality... but you have a point.

Nope, the camera work is what it is...

C'mon, stop being difficult....

No? You give up?

Here

And here

I rest my case.

Alain, I guess the trouble with such nice guitars is that you'd be too afraid of hurting them to really rock...

Looks like a Deluxe in first pic, beautiful quilted maple. :D

It's an American Standard with some fancy upgrades such as the quilted maple top and 1-piece flamed maple neck/fretboard. Deluxes will have a 21-fret compound neck with strong arm bar, active circuitry with 18v power supply, active/passive toggle switch and a PJ configuration with a Super 55 SC Jazz Bass pickup in the bridge.
