Well, I got my girl a lefty Hohner bass from a local shop, along with a Rumble 15 amp and a gig bag. Gonna pick it up Wednesday, in the meantime they're gonna set it up/clean it for me.

She's not a southpaw, but she was born with slight disfigurements in her hands, and it's more comfortable for her that way.

I'm thinkin about telling her someone else bought it so I can surprise her. good or bad idea? cuz she'd be very very disappointed. also can someone recommend some easy-playing bass strings, along the lines of slinkys?

The first guitar (of sorts) I ever owned was a red Hohner P. bass with maple board - I loved that thing :O)

I hope you and your GF have hours of fun jamming. It's great to share the same passion for music with the one you care about. I told my fiance - - - when I get better at guitar playing, she can be my singer (not that we are looking to be in a band) we just want to have fun and enjoy music!
