My first bit of advice - get a piggy bank. Seriously. Don't blow your pocket change at the vending machine, save it for your guitar or guitar-related material (books, strings, picks, all that extra stuff).

Keep your eye on the want ads and inquire at your local workforce center if there are any jobs appropriate for your age. Even if it's temporary work, it's still cash in your pocket.

If you have friends whose parents own a business, or if your parents know anyone who owns a business, ask them if they have any work for you. I got most of my high school jobs this way.

Good luck!

I bought my first guitar with pocket money and (get this) £200 in cash, in an envelope I found. I couldn't resist.

When I was 15, I washed dishes in a seafood restaurant to buy my first Fender. Killed my social life. Had to work Friday nights and I smelled like fish.

I can't imagine anything worse for a teenager. Oh yeah, I can...I cleaned stalls at a kennel for a week when I was 16? or so. I hated it. Only lasted that week.
