Some are made from agithis or basswood. I'm guessing either could be so.

Congratulations SA! I've always liked those and viewed them as versatile guitars. In reference to the demo's, I have been staying with some friends and there is a Strat here that I have played when taking a break from my regular schedule (bass practice). My friend happened to be in the kitchen (just off of the practice room) while I was listening to your demo's and she said "Rollie is that you playing?" . I don't know if that is a compliment to you or me but I'll take it either way. I always thought I had a twin guitar player out there, now I know that he lives in Texas. 8)

If she didn't run out of the kitchen, screaming and covering her ears, I'll take that as a positive as well...thanks for your compliments.

Well, if I don't start loving this neck more than I do after playing this guitar (and only this guitar) for the last week, it's gonna have to go back to the store. The neck's just too dang small. I feel like I'm stumbling around on it, and after watching my videos again, I'm kind of embarrassed. I can play better than that.

Checklist:

Looks--Check!

Price--Check!

Sound--Double Check!

Weight--Check!

Feel of the neck--aahhh, not so much, buddy...

If she were ready for a new/better guitar, I would save this back for the Armadillo 'Tween, but I don't know if she'll ever get to that point. If I let her see it, she would love it, but she's going to have to make some pretty big progress in her playing before I buy her anything else.

...and I'm going to have to buy new tuners (the ones I want are over $70 almost everywhere I look), some strap lock buttons (cheap, no prob) and a set up (local guy wants to charge $40) to make this thing a usable instrument.

That's over $120 bucks for a guitar that cost me $99.00...hmm, poor use of my finances, if you ask me.

:? It makes me wish it didn't sound so good, that way I wouldn't be torn over what to do.

Congrats S.A. you got an unbelieveable deal, the pups alone would cost you over $100 if you bought them from Gibson/Epiphone.Epi p-90s just sing and really sparkle when played clean but when overdriven can give you a lovely crunch from the bridge pup or smooth "Woman"tone from the neck pup.I can't fathom how they could be making any money selling them that cheap, unless they are being used as a "loss leader" that is when a product is sold at a loss to attract more people into a store or certain section of a store with hopes that they'd be drawn to something more expensive.

Very cool SA! Nice score. There's something to be said about inexpensive guitars. I have a few and love them all. The P-90's are great pups.
