G'day Riley,

I know this isn't the same as what you are suffering, from but I saw this Episode of Today Tonight about Deep Brain Stimulation and how can cure different problems involving uncontrollable muscles etc, like Tourettes Syndrome. I wonder it if may have similar usefulness in your case.

This is in Australia and there's also some contact info of the Doctor involved and the TT episode I saw in the link.

Check it out mate you never know where it could lead.

Best Wishes, mate.

Are you going for cortazone shots twice a year ? That crap is cancerous, ask your doctor about it. Thats why they don`t give you more than 2 shots a year. With the bad injury I have they wanted to give it to me. When I found out its side affects I told the doctor to stick it in his own back.

It's a great idea to put such ideas into the world when someone asks for help. Now you're shooting his doctors in the back. Think again. And no, there is no evidence that cortisone is causing cancer.

Please leave the treatment to his doctors, OK?

Cheers

Don't even consider amputation Riley. My oldest daughter has very visable physical disabilities that give her excruciating pain. She was born with Ambiotic band syndrome, that's when during the trimaster that her hands and feet were forming she somehow kicked and poked through her hands the placenta and consequently the parts of the hands and feet that penetrated the placenta didn't fully develop.Due to this syndrome she has only partial fingers on both hands,a club foot and a partially amputated foot that causes blinding pain.(The amputation took place in utero-inside the womb-and she suffers pain all day every day.)

In spite of her disabilities and the taunts and insensitive, nosey questions, she has done extremely well for herself. She is the enforcement officer for a mining town in Labrador-basically the town cop.

I worked with disabled kids even when I was in school and kept working with them for over 30yrs. and I've seen first hand the taunts, insults etc. that the disabled have to endure but the majority of them realize that it's the ignorant fool doing the taunting that's disabled-they're socially retarded. I too have disabilities with the condition in my hands and after having a spinal fusion,I'm in constant pain too.

You have to try and focus on the positive things in your life.Sure it's tough having a disability unbelievably tough but you have to knuckle down and not let it get to you. There are millions in the same boat and a lot of people are worse off by not being able to walk or talk because of a car crash etc. or even worse left in a permanent vegetative state. There are support groups for the disabled all over the web,if you look around and try Google etc. you'll most likely find one.

I know that Australia has one of the best pain/disability centers in the world and many others worldwide have patterned their centers on the Australia model.I'd find it strange if they didn't have a support network.Give that a look because it's very hard to face these things alone and just a little bit of support and empathy would help you immensely. You also have all your forum friends watching your back and supporting you. You're having a hard time now but believe me things will get better eventually as there are meds and treatments being developed every day so you never know help could be just around the corner.Take care my young friend,we all care about you and wish you the best in life.
Derek

Read the post again. I didn`t tell him to tell his doctor to inject himself in the back with it. I told MY doctor to inject himself with it. And - a doctor told me its cancerous. A family member had taken a dose of it recently and it didn`t work. She wanted another injection and they told her she couldn`t have it more than twice a year and they refused to give it to her. If it was good for you, why would they refuse to give it to you. The reason why I posted this was to HELP, not to put a negative spin on it.

Because getting too much of something can't possibly be bad.

Now, that aside

I hope you get whatever treatments you may need, Riley, and that this eventually gets better. Don't think about amputation, because then you'll still have the disability but won't even get windows of relief. Just hang in there dude.

@Riley: have you tried osteopathy yet? Look for someone in the biodynamic field of osteopathy, they have some techniques that might help you.

Cheers

David

ok so i talked to my physcoligist about it, she said its rather normal for people with any disabilities that come under the umbrella of 'hypertonia' to think that, however acting on it should be a last resort.

so kindly, she organised me to get some more medication, this time there injecting it deeper into the muscles, hopefully it'll last longer
only sucky thing is, i have to stay overnight at the hospital

Have a close lady friend stay with you. "I'm scared!" should work just fine here. Her mother might object to it at first, but then she'll be like "He's scared mom!" and you'll have someone to keep you company.
