Ok what's the darn trick here? I complete suck at using these. I always shied away because i just cant get the coordination down to make it sound natural. I suppose its just like anything, comes with practice but anyone got any pointers? i wouldn't mind learning the art a little bit. I like the sound of them when used sparingly to embellish.

Basically it's not much more difficult than tapping your toes to the beat of the music except a bit of finesse goes with it.It helps to use the foot that coincides with your hand dominance and as with anything practice makes perfect.Good wah playing doesn't just happen overnight and it probably the most mis-used and overused pedal made.Practice first with simple slow riffs and listen to songs with great wah pedal use, Jimi's Voodoo Child(slight return)is probably the best example of wah use you can find. A good fairly simple song to help learn wah finess by playing along is Brother Louie by Ian Lloyd and Stories. That's a great song for a novice wah user to get acquainted with the wah. Lots of luck with it-all it takes is patience and perseverence.

What is a "Wah Peddle"?

Is that when you're trying to sell some "wah"? :P (Just kidding)

+1K There are no tricks, just practice. I would add Creams White Room as another song to work on. Also give a listen to Derek & Dominos "In Concert" album, Eric Claptons uses the wah for several of the songs on it, yet never sounds like he over used it. Lots of great different ways to use it are on that album, during rhythm work, lead breaks and a bunch of intros.

FWIW

Listen to what Eric does with it on "Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad" at both the
intro and during the jam part.
