It may just be my personal observations, but it seems I've seen many more Telecasters with the common crack line coming from the neck pocket than Stratocasters. I'm wondering what your opinion is on this. It doesn't seem logical since both are similar in design.

I have seen both teles and strats crack the neck pockets. Almost every single bolt-on neck guitar will develop these cracks in the finish over time, if they are taken out and played. :)

I have seen it more with strats then telecasters with it but most of the time its done by quick temp change or if you tighen the neck to tight.

Has anyone ever seen a body that was unserviceable due to a pocket crack, one where the wood actually separated?

My white P-bass has a large crack from the 6th to the 9th fret. I was carrying an air conditioner and lost my balance near my couch and sat on it by mistake

I think I'm going to need to see some pix of these neck pocket cracks. I play my Fenders often and have never noticed any surface finish cracks developing at the neck pocket.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

BMW, not sure if you can see it in the first one, but it's a hair thin crack that goes from the corner diagonally out. The second one is a plate crack that's a bit thicker.
