No one is going to argue that Pink Floyd was done when Waters left, but that doesn't make The Wall any better or worse. Two different subjects.

Well someone posted slighting Rogers artistic input to Floyd citing his obsession with his fathers past etc etc. but i repeat; that's what an artist is supposed to be, that's what he/she is supposed to do; use their emotions, life events to draw upon to fuel their art.

DSOTM is great but the Wall contains IMO the best work Gilmour ever did, the use of echo, the solos, music in general, just left DSOTM behind.

But no one will ever agree, those who like one or the other will always prefer that.

Well thank God we don't all agree..

So if Floyd died with Water's departure, then which is the better album - Division Bell or Final Cut? j/k

The sonic architecture of Floyd easily survived Water's leaving - his tuneless voice and plodding pedestrian bass playing were hardly missed! As long as there was Gilmour and Wright, you had Floyd (albeit 'Floyd Lite'). But lyrically, Water's remained light years ahead of Gilmour and his lady friend's efforts..

Best they called it a day all round..

I agree with you... but then as i type... I keep hearing the guitar work on Dogs playing on the stereo in my head. But nonetheless, i know what you are saying. The slight hint of aggression (if i may call it that) coupled with the use of Delays in his playing on both the Wall and The Final Cut are some of my favorite aspects of his playing. The Final Cut, though too one of my favorite records, is a little too much Waters in some ways. Sure there is really no Floyd without Waters, but the same could be said for Waters without Gilmour. Look at The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking . Clapton is a great player, but can anyone really say that style worked for that record? Amused to Death is another of my favorite albums, Jeff Beck almost makes you not miss Gilmour... almost. Great one liners on that album though... "we got warehouses of butter" ! I think they balance each other out and that's what i missed most when they split up.

Think I'll throw on Obscured by Clouds right now in the spirit of this dismal rainy morning.

If putting my money where my mouth is has any bearing, I'll be picking up the immersion versions, DSOTM and WYWH.

Really enjoyed the Wall, Berlin dvd, and if a dvd of the recent Wall tour comes out I'll look into that.

So, listening - dsotm, watching - wall.

Nice that we can hear other folks opinions, that's what's cool about it. Everyone hears and reacts to music in a different way and for their own reasons. Maybe something about a song, album or what have you strikes a chord (sorry!) with something in their own life or feelings emotions etc.

Music's a personal thing at the end of the day and there is no better or best It's always fun to debate it tho'

The worst thing about The Wall and DSOTM was that they were both too well made to the point that they both got so overplayed that they have come close to the fate that befalls a lot of "classic" albums-it becomes almost tedious to hear them after so many playings.

Not to change the subject here but I like Wish You Were Here better. Between DSOTM or The Wall, both are equally as good. Two different themes, but both have some great songs on them.

Just a hunch here, Rog you ok, Roger, Roger  I'm with the Buggles on this " Video killed the radio star" all that animation was a right turn off for me, and apart from Comfortably Numb at a pinch for me there's nothing from The Wall which would have enhanced DSOTM, I couldn't take to "We Don't Need No Education" or whatever it's title was, DSOTM for me was and always will be way I said WAY ahead

I detect the hand of David Gilmour in this.
