Well, I found a suitable receiver on amazon, and it all seemed to be going well. Anyway, my dad and I got the thing turned on, the needle lifted, it spun, etc.... then it started smoking from the bottom

So apparently this little project of mine will be more difficult than I thought. But I'm still determined to get this thing working again. Gonna have to look the whole thing over, clean it up, maybe solder a few places, etc. But I hope I'll get it working by the time I move out of my parents' house on the 18th or 19th. Would go great in my new place. Wish me luck and send me a little mojo, I'll need it.

Can't wait to be playin' poker with my friends in my new house, my girl sitting on my lap, some classic rock vinyls in the background
