so i found a screaming deal on a used carvin amp from g.c. in california. had it shipped to my local g.c., so it wouldn't sit outside in the rain. came in yesterday-yay.

i ran out to pick it up last night. while playing thru it to make sure everything worked ok, i heard some tasty jazz coming from behind me. i turn around, and it's a young lady, probably about 20 or so. boy could she play!. i stopped for a few minutes, listened to her, and engaged in conversation. i commented on her playing, and she was nice enough to return the compliment.

turns out she took proper lesson from a well known school for the arts, and plays locally in different jazz/blues bands. i am going to make an effort to get out and see her.

how refreshing- no "crazy train" or "smoke on the water" played at full volume next to me

Some like to bash GC, but I have nothing against their prices, service, or employees. Always treated me well.

Bashing? I'd say it's more of a critique. There are a gang of Guitar Centers all over, just like there are a lot of McDonald's. Not every McDonald's is the same and some just aren't too good.

If you have a good GC, I'm happy for you. I have three that I can co to in a 40 mile radius. I've had bad experiences in all three.

If there was a Tim Drake at one of these, it might be a different story.
