Yeah. My other old fave, Keith Emerson, has lost some, but he keeps trying.

I'm sure Rick Wakeman's son Oliver is now keyboard player with the most recent Yes formation

Rick's grandson playing with yes is cool John. This band had a cousin of Carlos Santana as their guitar player:

I thought this song was progressive at that time:

"Progressive Rock"? isn't that an oxymoron now? Not knocking the music here , just the notion of slapping labels on things.
Had someone on my FB mention "up to date music". That got me thinking "what is that?" Top 40 is full of stuff made to the same formula thats been used for the past 20 years or more. Dance charts and indie charts tell much the same story. Rock chart still has Queen and GnR and Motorhead. Drum n Bass is just as old, Jungle was started at Studio 1 when the started mixing Reggae Dub plates at superfast speed, now they've slowed it back down for Dub Step. Electro Swing is on the up replete with some classy '40s samples. Hip Hop chugs along following it's traditions.New sounds, new lyrics, new artists perhaps, but new music? Well I guess maybe inside my head theres some ; though that still borrows strongly from what has gone before.

Mr.Skinner summed it up nicely

all good ideas Don, when I saw this thread my first thought was rock and roll as the birth so to speak. as rock music spawned rock bands to add augment or progress alongside Johnny B. Goode bands did just that alongside Chuck and his contemporaries. Those early bands were pretty bare bones affairs, I'm going to post a Fleetwood Mac tune as an example of how wide open that I think this thread subject is:

this might or might not qualify as progressive rock but in 1972 it sure was different:

Genisis helped expand prog to theater, I like the early Genisis too.
A favorite band:

I saw this band twice in 1968, June at the Mill Run Theater in Niles Illinois then October at the Kinetic Playground with the Jefferson Airplane:
