thought of a song from close to the edge, the thought, progressie rock's example #1, it was yes 3rd commercially successful album that connected universally their message that rock music does progress (this youtube video has most of the music from close to the edge which I always took to mean tying up loose ends, lol.):

Wasn't Radiohead supposed to be a progressive rock band? Define progressive in terms of a music genre. :?:

"Wasn't Radiohead supposed to be a progressive rock band? Define progressive in terms of a music genre." not sure about radiohead, but, rock music genre guitar bass drums sometimes vocal fast cars fast dates fast lightnin' blossomed and like all blossoms sometimes are bigger and better more descriptive than before, progress. there must be better descriptios than this, give it a try.

My all time favorite prog rock album. It just doesn't get any better than Close to the Edge.

Hey,
if you are a guitar guy & dig heavier prog, check out any of the older King's X stuff, all featuring Ty Tabor on guitar. For example...

Check out the crazy time signatures used during the entire outro of that tune, nice.

As an aside and for a nice Fender tie-in, Tabor is known for his sweet tones back then, tones garnered via the use of modded Fender Elite series Strats with active pickups combined with some crazy old Gibson Lab Series amps.

Good call Uncle Milty. I saw them in '90 open for Robert Plant. Here is progressive Robert from back then:

Rick Wakeman is still playing well! Lots of his old material, not new stuff, but I'll take it.

Check out recent live videos on YouTube. MidJune had him playing shows with an orchestra in the UK.

Yeah. My other old fave, Keith Emerson, has lost some, but he keeps trying.
