would save up another 500-1000$ and get a vintage fender some sort of reverb amp

Or save the money for a binson echorec, I guess they don't cost 3k dollars in the us like over here

Just to clarify, my "loot" *must* be spent on new FMIC product ...

Then I would get the rest for a '65 DRRI or Am Dlx strat

I'd probably buy a $400 plane ticket out to Corona, CA and hang around the Custom Shop until they gave me a scrap to get rid of me. The other $600 would go towards a tent, sleeping bag and food to camp out in the parking lot.

If my wife didn't let me do that, I've always wanted one of the Palo Escrito Tele's... pretty sweet looking Tele. Hope to see more interesting/affordable woods in the future. Keep it up. I dig my Koa Tele.

Here's an interesting exercise: imagine you had about $1,000.00 to spend on (or toward) ANY FMIC product. Guitar, amp, accessory, whatever. Fender, Squier, Gretsch, Jackson, SWR, Guild, Charvel, Tacoma, EVH. What would you spend it on, and why?

This probably comes across sounding like a marketing exercise but it's truthfully not -- due to the wonders of Fender's internal beta test program I actually do have just over $1G to spend ($1,055.00 to be exact) and am debating what I'm going to buy. :-)

Hmmm...... do I smell contest??? 8) I'd buy whatever I could afford, by the way. :D

Helo Brad,

With the cash, I'd add a bit and spring for a
'62 hot rod in sherwood green.

Best of luck.

Can you get a Guild 12 string for that little?

And can you "Pad" it with a couple hundie's of your own? Then you could get one for sure.

Probably a '65 Reissue Mustang, and nice amp to go with it.

Not sure what amps are in your collection, but for me I'd be really tempted to put some extra money in and get a Vibroverb amp.

I'd buy 2 or 3 Squiers, then put the rest on a Blues Junior...

Yes, thats how much I like Squiers, I'd buy them with a $1000 check from Fender...

Brad - are you limited to using MSRP or can you go by street prices? If the former, your list of potential gear gets a lot more limited.

And are you limited to exactly 1 item?

I've already give my choices - but if I was limited to MSRP - I would have to re-think my answer

We're talking street price here, and no, there's no limit on number of items.

I'm sticking with the 12 string Strat and one of the smaller amps. If there's anything left? Strings.

Thanks much for all the input, folks! Definitely an interesting exercise. A couple of folks suggested an American Standard Tele and I've been pondering that all day, but ... I've ultimately decided to let my balance accrue just a tad more and pick up something from the Super-Sonic™ series of amps. I have a Super-Sonic 112 combo on loan right now and it's a wicked beast.

Decisions, decisions! :-)

Good call, Brad. The Super Sonic is my favorite new Fender amp (I think I may like it better than the DRRI).

Well Brad, unfortunetly you don't have enough for a new american standard tele in natural ...... so, If it were me (I wish it was) I would have to buy a new american standard tele in the blizzard pearl color with a maple fret board. What a beatiful looking and playing guitar - the new american standars are just awesome. 8)
