Here's an interesting exercise: imagine you had about $1,000.00 to spend on (or toward) ANY FMIC product. Guitar, amp, accessory, whatever. Fender, Squier, Gretsch, Jackson, SWR, Guild, Charvel, Tacoma, EVH. What would you spend it on, and why?

This probably comes across sounding like a marketing exercise but it's truthfully not -- due to the wonders of Fender's internal beta test program I actually do have just over $1G to spend ($1,055.00 to be exact) and am debating what I'm going to buy. :-)

Hmm, I'd be trying out some of the smaller amps--as I want a smaller amp--easier to move around--and many small amps these days give killer sound.

Or I'd get the 12 string Strat--or possibly that and a small amp.

Of course if they brought back the original Starcaster--that would be hard to resist.

Probably a Left Handed Standard Jazz Bass and a Rumble 60 Bass amp.

I'd buy a Deluxe Reverb and blow the remainder on accessories.

This probably won't help you- I would assume you have at least one Tele :) -but if it was me, I would go for the American Standard Tele- only problem would be which finish- 3 color sb, Crimson Red trans. or Natural...definately the Maple fretboard though. Hey Brad- I have an idea!!! buy ME the Tele- you'll feel all warm and fuzzy inside!!

I'd buy a Gretsch Electromatic Pro Jet and a Fender Frontman 212 amp

Humm - nice exercise.

I need a Tele (don't have one), so

a Fender Special Edition Lite Ash Telecaster

and

a Fender Super Champ XD Amplifer

Using street prices and free shipping, I have enough to get a case for the Tele! If I add a few dollars, I can even get one of the new Fender/SKB cases!

Also a Pro Junior Amp.

I'd go for a Guild dreadnaught 6 string. Not a GAD series.

Just to clarify, my "loot" *must* be spent on new FMIC product ...

Brad - are you limited to using MSRP or can you go by street prices? If the former, your list of potential gear gets a lot more limited.

And are you limited to exactly 1 item?

I've already give my choices - but if I was limited to MSRP - I would have to re-think my answer

We're talking street price here, and no, there's no limit on number of items.

Even though I'm an obvious Guild guy, how about a '65 Deluxe Reverb. One of the classic Fender amps. Great tone, not too loud but loud enough. Sounds great with a green pedal.
