great looking amp. i guess i need to start paying attention more but i've never seen these amps. or have i? what made you buy it chet? i have 2 amps that i could trade in. i like my peavey valveking but it's a bit harsh. i'll research over the net but i'd like some feedback from a forum friend also. no hurry.

That amp I traded in was the Blackstar HT5 Mini !/2 Stack and it is a great little 5 watt amp. A friend told me about them. The guys at Blackstar used to be at Marshall. I guess that should say enough?

I got the Blackstar HT40 Club Combo because I wanted a higher wattage Blackstar Combo instead of the stack. I actually test drove quite a few of the Blackstar Amps before getting the 40 watt.

I highly recommend Blackstar amps!!!

With the Blackstar you don't need the Marshall.

Nice one Chet! 8)

I love the digital reverb on my HT-5R Half Stack. Whats the score with the Bright/Dark Reverb switch on your Club 40?

Blackstar = Awesomeness! Great amps, and definitely worthy of the Big Hairy Seal of Approval! :D

Cheers!

Andy

I love these Blackstar Amps. I'm still putting this one through it paces and finding my settings. I'll let you know about the Dark/Light Reverb on it.

Mr. Chet, i inquired about one of these amps in a small music store here in fort worth. the dude who owned the store he said he rarely sees them come into the store for trade or sell. he did say he could order one possibly. i have his card. now i just need to find a store with one in stock for a test drive. i'll research some more and see what my budget will allow. i have worked my $@! off this year and spent little money. i have set aside money to buy my wife a new ring. (10 year anniversary). being the selfish beastard i am, i figure i can spend the same amount on a new amp.
thanx for the info. i'll let you know what i settle for, if anything.

Say Chet ... I seem to be noticing something missing in your pics. Where is that lovely custom BJ of yours? I was just talking about it over in the amp forum and realized I haven't seen you post any pics of it lately.

Nice swap Chet! I really like the Blackstar stuff, and I've always preferred combos over stacks. I've been thinking of an HT-20 Studio to run in an A/B/Y setup along with my Jet City. Is the tone of the 40 similar to the HT-5 or are you on a new learning curve setting this amp?

Looks like Tarpley Music in Southlake or Frisco and Murphey's Music in Irving are close to you.
