Yesterday afternoon I did a temporary set up of Blinker's new Fresher Tele.I set up the action and intonation and she's like a new guitar.I didn't do the meticulous job that I usually do because he has a Callahan compensated classic style bridge assembly on the way and when that comes in we'll be putting that on,taking off the Martin 9s that are on her now and putting on a set of D'Addario 8s. Lew Skinner the best country picker in NL and our very own Telemaster swears by 8s on Teles and says that they are the best for chicken pickin' because you can really bend them to get real steel guitar licks.BTW Lew is a very close friend of Scotty Moore and actually plays just like him and I believe he got that Tele tip from Scotty.Scotty phoned Gibson and asked them to make a lefty version of his one-off for Lew,that was about 30 years ago and it's still Lew's pride and joy of his huge collection of rare leftys.
