It'll never go that low, someone will pay the ask price only because you cannot get an actual 68 for less and a reissue won't cut it when it concerns bringing a 68 Strat back to original state.

68s would go for 38 thousand if complete with original strings

I'm relatively certain that he's possessed of neither.

I can see the cap join lines, though the discolored finish and the locking nut platform do make them difficult to see. But for those of you who can't see them, an easy way to recognize a maple-cap neck is the lack of a skunk stripe in back. Long 1/4" diameter drill bits wander too much to be able to drill lengthwise through a neck (and even if they could, the hole would be more or less straight instead of having the correct curve). There were some cheap fakes without truss rods back in the '60s, but if you see a truss rod and no skunk stripe it pretty much has to be a maple cap neck.

There's no way to tell from those pics if the neck is twisted. In the pic of the neck resting on a wood plank, the heel is at an angle like that because the tuners are still installed -- the head isn't resting flat.

Eddie Vegas runs a lot of vintage-part auctions. They're always ridiculously overpriced and he makes ridiculous claims about vintage tone & superiority, but I've never heard anyone accuse him of selling fakes. (I assume he doesn't really want to sell his expensive stuff on eBay and have to pay the fees -- he uses eBay to advertise and sets his prices way too high hoping that instead of buying through eBay people will call him and make offers.)

If you'd be willing to pay a huge amount of money for a neck that's shite-hauled,I have an original '65 Strat neck that's just had a refret for $20,000.Every day you seem to be posting about a piece of gear etc. that you're going to buy etc.Are you the love child of Bill Gates or something? How are you going to get the bucks for all this gear that you want?
BTW there is absolutely NO WAY that you'd ever get $38,000 for a '68 Strat all original. My '65 if I had left it original would only be worth $15,000 on a real good day and that would be if the buyer had a 5 Martini Lunch.$38 large would be more in line with a '61 Strat in Sonic Blue or some other rare colour or a sunburst '59.Wherever you're getting your info it's very very flawed.

Anyone else laugh at this thread? Because I did. I'd never pay $5,000 for a whole guitar.

Then I'm sure you wouldn't check out Mandolin Brothers Or Empire Guitars or Gruhn Guitars....
There's a few guitars at either vintage site/store that easily exceed your max...
Or for that matter getting a Master Built from the Fender Custom Shop... :!:

The actual Price and a particular market's ability to justify such prices of vintage gear is not funny at all, it is quite serious, what has ceased to be amusing long ago is the OP's insistence to Post his every thought, wish list, banter, cranial refuse...and expect that all welcome the input and should retort......

He has been reported countless times, If I knew his home address I would publish it in the Occupy Wall-Street Web Page, as a location that welcomes their camps.....Squat In..

OH...And BTW....You yourself have been egging him on so you do take responsibility for this inate...inane....situation.....

Thanks...
