It's my understanding that girls go for bands, but women don't necessarily go for guitarists. They don't appreciate the competition for your time or devotion..

years ago i was at my local hangout. the guitar player for the band was late, and one of my friends told the band that i played guitar. i was immediately up on stage.

after the first set i had so many drinks bought for me by girls i never met before that there was no way to finish them all.

that was a fun night......

I disagree. Although Allison Robertson, Kaki King, Bonnie Raitt and several other "chick" (your word, not mine) guitarists are attractive in their own right, their level of attractiveness increases greatly with their guitar-playing ability.

It worked for me over the many years and admittedly, it was part of my decision to take up guitar in the first place.

As to chick guitarists or any chick band member for that matter being conversely ignored, I have to disagree. They obviously stand out and we do take notice. I will say this though and maybe its just my experiences, but those that I have seen in settings where they didn't have a 'goon squad' isolating them from their audiences, as a majority, chose not to mingle with their audiences any way. And those who did, had a bit of a 'tudie'. Again, I'm not saying all, mind you, just most.

Myth

Just something lonely guitarists cling onto. Ladies go for famous guitarists with lots of money. Or they go for a person they like. I've never seen one target someone just because they are a guitar player.
