I have a nice Teisco in my watch list. My money from my latest sale will load tomorrow, so I'll hopefully win the auction and claim this beauty. It's a single pickup, 2 pot, tulip model. It's really cool to me, I'm into obscure guitars.

Why settle for a copy when you can get a used Squier or Fender for $100?

Maybe because the guitar in question isn't a copy of anything?

Those Tulips are really funky things, a friend had one for a while. Very characterful (and surprisingly usable) tone, although I seem to recall keeping it in tune was a bit of an experience.
