Personally I think that Susanna Hoffs of The Bangles is the most beautiful woman to sling on a guitar-definitely my dream woman and dream guitar-a Ricky 360/12.

Since you're going there.....the first time I ever saw Orianthi was in a quick sound bite on the first Crossroads DVD. She was playing a blues run on a dark red PRS 10 top and my immediate response was 'holy s--t" :!: :!:  " Who is that" :?: :!:

I didn't start singing or playing guitar and harmonica to attract girls, but it was a nice side effect...at first.

After I hung out with several of these semi-groupies, I figured out real quick that they didn't have the things I was looking for in a girl. They were either vapid, psycho, manipulative, or a combination of the three. I like women that can hold a better conversation than, "Yeah, I just got my hair done! *giggle*"

No matter how pretty, that gets old real fast.

It's funny, but the girl that always turned my key didn't care if I played or not; we had based our relationship on everything except my music. After eighteen years of marriage, I think I made the right choice (whether she thinks she made the right choice is questionable  )...

Lady Armadillo finally figured out how important music was to me after about four years of marriage, and she encourages me to play...probably because it's cheaper than a psychologist.

There is so much truth in this statement! A vast amount about how music works is to be found here. 8)

+1 to that Mr SA. The only girl I’ve ever truly loved and been able to feel close to is my current girlfriend of nearly 6 years, she is SO not impressed by my music and loves me for who I am, not how i look onstage or the music I write. She appreciates my music, but I think she is so conscious of never being anything like a groupie that she takes it to the other extreme! At first I sometimes found this frustrating, but in the long run it has turned out to be the best thing. She refused a few times to even meet me backstage when I wanted her there, frustrating, but again. In the long run I appreciate her for this. I would never ever be unfaithful.

My message would be, enjoy any adulation your music may bring you, but unless something more emerges from that start to the relationship... beware. And if you are one of these fools who throws away something good by thinking `what happens on the road, stays on the road` or any other similar clichés, then please please let whomever you enter into a relationship with KNOW this attitude you have. Otherwise, you’re fooling yourself into thinking you are better than you are, you’re just abusing your 15 minutes of fame and opening the door to depression. And that’s not even taking into account the damage you are doing to other more honourable musicians worldwide and to the poor person you are being unfaithful to.

Rant over. Ok so to some degree pretty much ranting at a younger me here.

Lady Armadillo is always my most honest (yet fairest) critic, and her lack of unchained adulation makes me a better player/songwriter/singer. If it doesn't turn her key, I know I either need to tweak it immediately or set it aside until it matures (like wine or cheese).

Also, the fact that Lady Armadillo and the Armadillo 'Tween venture over to radio stations I would not normally frequent has expanded my tonal/stylistic pallette.

Recently, Armadillo 'Tween asked for a CD by Adele, so I gave it a preview and I was mightily impressed...I've always loved Blue Eyed Soul, and this gal is awesome...I put her up there with Shelby Lynn's early '00s output, Dusty Springfield's Mussel Shoals recordings and the better stuff by Amy Winehouse...and all of those comparisons are meant to be compliments.
