I went to guitar center today and played a few fenders and one Gibson. I liked the feel of the Fenders better. My favorite sounding guitar was the American Special HSS, my favorite feel was a thinline 72.... still no one had the acoustasonic 150 amp to try yet... hopefully Fender will start shipping some soon so I can try one out.

Still have not decided on which guitar yet.

Any more suggestions? Has anyone put the Texas Special pickups in a Thinline?

You have to get both, a tele and a strat! and if i had the money several different versions of.

I have a Clapton strat and an American standard tele, both great guitars.

Thing i love about the tele is; just the two single coils, no middle pickup to get in the way when you're picking, which i feel sometimes happens on a strat.

The strat has the whammy and the clapton boost and i love the strat contoured body that hugs you when you play, which the tele doesn't have. The strat feels like a part of your body and to me must be the most user friendly, comfortable guitar in the world.

Personaly, I just bought my first electric guitar today, and I prefer a Telecaster. I hear people complain about the shape of the Tele all the time, I actualy love it. I'm not in the least bit very experienced in the difference between the two, but I like the Tele more, but eventualy, I will have an American made Strat to match my American made Tele.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions.

I ordered the Strat... the American Special HSS.. I liked the sound and feel of it. I'm sure I'll get use to the jumbo frets... didn't really notice the difference until I played some of the other versions.

Still looking for that amp to become available so I can hear what it sounds like.
