still can't hear!!
Really though, it was quite incredible. It was up in Green Bay the day before the big Vikings-Packers game. I wish I would have stayed, I'm a big Vikes fan....too bad we're horrible!

So we get there and the doors open at seven and were pretty up front in line. The doors open and I rush to the front and got front row!! Imagine me, just a teenage kid living it up front row! Wow I really am lucky. So we wait there for an hour and eight comes around and no Ace. So 45 minutes later, out comes the Spaceman himself Ace Frehley! He launches into "Rocket Ride" and performs it into a medley style combo of "Rocket Ride" and "Parasite". I didn't recognize the third song but that gets over and he introduces himself and tells a Gene Simmons joke. Quite funny.
I don't remember most of the songs in order but a good 80% percent of them were KISS songs which I was really glad about because I don't really know any of his solo stuff.
Something I thought was really neat that he didn't steal the show. He let his fellow band members sing probably half of the songs! His drummer (Scot Coogan) was incredible!! HE sounded like Paul to me! Ace just kind of stood in the center and really was owning it up on the guitar but his bandmates showed a TON of energy. I forgot what song it was, but they turned it into a medley with "I Want You" with Scot singing the lead vocals.
Their rhythm guitarist took the lead on the song "Flaming Youth" and he sounded great! He also turned over the vocals to his band mates on the song "She".
Jeesh I wish I remembered more songs! Oh, he also played "Snow Blind, Rock Soldiers, 2000 Man, and Sister". At some point in the night he took out his "UFO" guitar....it had lights all around it! So on that he played "New York Groove" and the whole crowd got in on it!! He ended his set with his signature song, "Shock Me" complete with a 10 minute guitar solo all by himself including his all famous smoking guitar trick. The crowd chants for Ace to come back and sure enough he does to perform "Deuce" and closes the night out with "Cold Gin" but the end of it was the ending solo of "Black Diamond".

I ended up getting a pick from the bassist too!!! Overall it was just in incredible concert. Louder then the KISS concert and honestly I thought it was better too. I just hope he tours again because Ace Frehley truly is a rock god and I think everybody needs to witness that in their life.
2 Concerts down, many more to come....

I hope he comes to Vegas. I'd love to see it. Ace was the reason I wanted a guitar in the first place. I'm sure I'd enjoy it a lot.

I was also at that show in Green Bay last Sunday night. After seeing Ace w/KISS in the past I was really wondering if he could support a show on his own. And he surprised me, as Flamestrat said he shared alot of vocals with the rest of the band. And he played some classic stuff, Rocket Ride, 2,000 Man, Hard Times, Flaming Youth and What's on Your Mind? Awesome tracks.

We were in line around 6:15 were right against the barricade just in front of Ace a little to the left. So if Fenderflamestrat caught a bass pick you couldn't have been too far away. That was my only gripe about the sound was the bass player's tone, pretty trebly and "punk" like. I prefer more bottom end and think it makes hard rock sound better but no biggie. After the show I did talk to his drummer/Scot in the casino, very nice guy, but no photos allowed in there.

So Fenderflamestrat, got any photos? I'll post a couple of mine. Maybe we ran into each other without knowing it! After 21 KISS shows I wasn't sure how Ace would be on his own, but this show far exceeded my expectations and damn it was loud! I didn't grab any earplugs, thought since it was in a casino how loud could it be? His volume also exceeded my expectations, :) , lot of fun though. Only downside was getting home around 2:30 am and then up for work on Monday am. Getting too old for that. 8)

I never would have expected anyone from this forum to be there or I would have mentioned it before the show and tried to arrange a meeting there. Not to many KISS fans around this forum so don't mention it too much!

That's awesome that you got to meet Scot! I thought he was the coolest besides Ace. My only gripe about the concert was the security "guard" if that's what you wanted to call him. He was scrawny but that's besides the point. So before the show started and we were waiting for Ace, I called him over to me. I asked politely if I could have a pick that came down between the barrier and the stage. He said they weren't allowed to pick up any picks because people might throw little 15 cent picks and then crowd surf over the guards head while he bent down to get it. No joke. I thought that was absolutely pathetic.
So the concert starts and sure enough the "guard" is picking up picks and handing them to people!! So I was like that's fine, he knows I want one so I bet he'll remember me. Well I guess not because he didn't end up giving me a pick. Thats not what bothers me though, it was that he gavew picks to every person around me. There was this kid next to me about the same age as me and he was having no fun. I could tell because the entire time he was staring blankly and kept checking time on his phone. Well sure enough the gueard gives him one of the picks from the Ace solo and I was mad. After the concert I ung around the stage trying to get something like a drumstick or setlist or anything and while I was there I was talking to him and he basically gave me the cold shoulder. Oh well. Can't get them all. He didn't even know I had a bass pick either. Well I'm glad you had a good time too! The concert was super loud!! Rock on,
~FFS

Cool photos, and I agree that the security people seemed like dicks. I understand they have a "no fun" job and all. In that first photo where you said Ace was looking at ya, that guard in lower right was right in front of us, so you were about 10 ft to our left.

I caught one Ace pick, and got one of the "sweat" towels too. I had a grip on that towel with the lady right to my right, I was a gentelman and let her have it. After the show she said to me "have you really seen KISS 21 times?" and when I said yes she said "you deserve this more then I do" and gave it back to me.

So the latest thing in my KISS collection is a frame with the towel/ticket/pick and a couple photos.

A great night!
