i have a lil cub 12 as a practice amp when i dont want to damage the surroundings with my blues deluxe, latley its been sounding crap, i know its a cheepish valve amp and its got cheap valves so it dosnt sound that good at the best of times... i tried findimg some info on how to bias them, i know it can be done as there is a bias pot, but didnt find out much, i know the bias voltage should be -12.5 but there is no labled bias test point, anybody know where the testpoint is? by looking at the circuit diagram id assume that a suitable point is R37/R38 bt i want to be sure before i kill myself trying...

Isn't the Cub cathode biased?
Care to share a schematic?

Anyway, if it is cathode biased, just change the EL84's. No need to re-bias.

Sorry 6v6's not EL84's.

Looks like it's cathode biased to me.

i bit the bullet and tried it using R37 as a test point, worked fine, was sitting at -11 volts so i brought it bak up to the factory -12.5 volts and it sounds a hell of a lot better, just a pain to do it, stripping the cab out and all that...
