for those who don't know- i am getting up in age. things aren't as easy as they used to be. over the last few years i have been in 2 car wrecks resulting in concussions, and about 20 years ago sprained my right hand badly in a work incident.

today, it's a bit of a challenge for me to play complicated chords, so i tend to stay with the basics. i recently had trouble holding on to picks. i tried different gauges, different types, and even some with grips on them. still didn't help much.

then it happened. i found an old thumb pick i bought years ago, when my thumb was smaller. stuck it on, and voila! this might work. after a few days of playing i am getting used to it. i now enjoy playing without worrying about pick control.

sometimes the answer is right in front of you.

If I recall correctly,in later years Les Paul was taping his pick to the outside of his first finger and holding it in place with his thumb. You're in good company.

My hands are destroyed from years of teaching karate. I use V-Picks now, they get sticky as they warm up and you rarely drop the pick. I also noticed that by playing the guitar I got a lot of my dexterity back in my fingers. I`m in my 60`s and I know how you feel. I`m retired from a job related injury and its no fun.
