Yeah they should fit a traditional Squier body ok, not sure about the Vintage vibe and other higher priced Squiers though.

You'll need a new scratchplate.

You might also want to see how well the strings will line up over the humbucker screw slugs too.

Hi Guys thanks for the reply i have been surfin the net a bit looking a various idears will they fit directly into the scratch plate or will i need to cut it ?

also i have been thinking along the lines of getting a replacement plate off ebay or somewhere so that i can return it to its original condition if i want to ?

also positioning should they go in the middle at the neck or bridge ? and if so what differnce would it make ?

i would like to play it in blues / slide style so any idears? or things to avoid ?

manny thanks
Mark

You will have to cut your pick guard unless you have a HSS model guitar. Also, the pole pieces will not line up exactly with the string spacing, due to Fender and Gibson do not use similar specs. But it will still work just fine once you get it crammed in there and wired up :) PS Gibson still makes some of the best sounding, non-active humbucker pickups available !

It normally says on the pickup packaging if it is for neck, middle or bridge.

At the bridge, it tends to be sharper, brighter and harsher, whilst at the neck it tends to be mellower and deeper voiced, a bit more soulful. The middle is somewhere in between.

Normally humbucker+single coil fenders, and other makes too, come with the humbucker at the bridge and the single coils in the other position/s. There are exceptions to this, like Andy Summers signature telecaster.

You can always move it from one place to another if you prefer it that way.

Usually (of late), a given set of Gibson humbuckers out of the same guitar has the bridge pickup's polepieces further apart than that of the neck's.

Greetings.

What I mean is, if you look at a recent set of Gibson pickups from the same guitar, usually one of the pickup's polepieces are spaced further apart (string to string) than that of the other pickup. It is this pickup with the wider polepiece spacing that you'd use in the bridge or treble position of the guitar with the narrower polepiece spaced pickup used for the neck or bass position. The purpose of the different spacings is so the strings will line up better over the polepieces of both pickups. Having said this, once the pickups have been determined, the adjustable polepiece bobbin of the bridge pickup should be closest to the bridge and the adjustable polepiece bobbin of the neck pickup should be closest to the neck.

As to the gauge of wire, any will do but I personally use 22 AWG.

WOW!
You got me on that one. I just looked at three sets that I have here now and their the same, I do no which is the bridge on them though. Bridges are slightly overwound as usual on Gibson pickups.
