[quote="zontarYou still have to have the cases somewhere--unless you only have a few cases you rotate among the guitars. Of course you'd need to do that with a guitar armoire as well.[/quote]

Yes, I have a lot of cases, but they can be stored in an inaccessible place with the guitars on the wall.

what kind of wall hangers are the best and won't harm the nitro finish. I bought a new stand a while back and it had a sticker that warned it would ruin nitro finishes.

Right now I use a stand. But I might get wall hangers in the future once I get more guitars.

Wall hanging stands are really useful, but I do use floor stands, the annoying problem I have with floor stands is if my strap gets caught on it, then I lift it up and the stand comes up too, flipping over. Bloody annoying.

My guitars are all on stands all the time, up against the walls of the studio so that bumping isn't a problem.

I think hanging them looks cheesy, but I want them on display: not only does that make them accessible, but a friend of mine once said, wisely, "Guitars on stands are like the potted plants of the studio."

I once saw a wall-display system that I thought looked awesome, though... it was a two-piece thing that consisted of a curved cradle that hugged the lower curve of the body and a padded rest that received the neck of the guitar, so it could be hung on the wall in a "playing position" angle. THAT was sharp, but I could never find it for sale. Maybe the ones I saw were home-made.

I don't think it looks cheesy - it's so practical and it's just easy. You can vacuum clean easily, and they stay out of the way - and like a previous poster says, it's kinds like wall art. I also don't think it's cheesy cos I mean, c'mon, they're only guitar wall hangers, it's not like they're painted 'WORLD'S BEST GUITARIST' or 'STRATOCASTER #1'.

It's just my opinion... I think hanging guitars by their necks on the wall makes the room look like a store. Besides, I don't have any wall room... anything that isn't Auralex is a door or window.

If you like it, fine.

I prefer stands because when I was younger, I would hang a lot of posters on my walls, and no matter how good I put them up there, at some point one would fall for no reason, and I think those past experiences have traumatized me from using wall hangers...Another reason I prefer stands is because they are not as permanent as wall hangers....Like if the folks are dropping by, I can move some guitars into another room easily and avoid the "Why I need 7 guitars" explanation...

I have seen the wall hangers that hold them in playing position on Ebay for like $10 They are pretty cool.

Ed,,, an easy soulution to that would
be to set the guitar in the stand,,, then
take the strap and bring it accross the
fretboard,,, and let it hang behind the
guitar...

If you are looking at the guitar the only
part of the strap you would see,,, would
be the strap accross the fretboard where
it meets the guitar body...

I have a tough time with the written word
sometimes... I hope I explained it so it is
understandable...

my light guitars and lighter guitars i didnt pay a lot for i hang up.... my wall hangers are the dual screw style... i still worry that they will magically work them selves loose.... i have my gibson in the case at all times, my fenders are on stands.. my acoustics are also on stands....

i would NOT hang a solid body set neck guitar on the wall (obvious reasons) ...hanging guitars WILL pull them slightly out of tune more easily, so i only hang the cheap ones.... less to worry about....... the best thing for a guitar is to be in a hardshell case, but then you get risk of termites (ei the now famous ebay of the 60s fender that was eaten by termites when it was in the guys attic (which i honestly thing is a BS story to unload parts from a stripped vintage guitar)

I was just in a music store recently where they owner offered to sell me a Guild 12 string (can't remember the model # but it had the G logo in the headstock) for $1,600 because he'd hanged it and the rubber (think surgical) tubing that covered the hanger arm damaged the finish, hardly noticeable, but damaged none-the-less.
