Today I picked up Olivia Harrison's biography of George called Living in a Material World from what I've been hearing it's a great read and really gives an in depth look at George's life and times,I can't wait to start reading it.Coincidently the British music mag Mojo has a large section devoted to George with interviews of Paul,Ringo,Tom Petty,Jeff Lynne,Olivia and others who were close to George.Along with the article the Nov. issue has a CD of covers of George's songs with The Webb sisters doing a fabulous job of I Need You and Show of Hands doing a great cover of If I Needed Someone plus 13 other tracks. That's great background music to have on while I'm reading the book.

haven't read the book, but the 2 part series i just saw on tv was great.

i noticed you mentioned the webb sisters. if they are the ones i am thinking of, i met them and their dad 10 years ago in san diego. that is if their dad is graham webb of the hair care company fame. they put on a little concert at a convention i was at. good to know they are still performing

You've peaked my interest, and that's a tall order when it comes to books, I haven't finished one since I read House of Leaves, nothing seems good enough.
I might just put this on my christmas list.

Thanks for posting the link Danny,I cruised around some of the videos and came upon a video of Sean Lennon,Rufus Wainwright and another guy doing John's This Boy,although I've seen it before it's a video that I could never tire of watching.Sean sings the song with the same emotion and angst that his father did especially in the high part of the bridge, you can hear the audience go wild after he nails all the high notes strong and spot on.If you want to see how John's talent was passed on and lives on all you have to do is watch that video.

Yet, of the group, save for perhaps Zak Starkey, the rest of the sons are not enjoying remarkable musical careers to date.

I know what you mean Doc,we hardly ever hear a peep fromany of the other Beatle offspring except for Zak and Stella McCartney but she is famous for her fashion lines. I'm surprised that Julian's talent well dried up so suddenly, when he released Valotte I thought for sure that he was destined for musical greatness as,in my opinion Valotte was a brilliant album but all his efforts since seem anemic when compared to Valotte. Sean and Dhani it seems have never progressed much beyond the smaller venue circuit. It's a pity that they haven't reached a higher apex but then again maybe the torches their Dads passed on to them were too heavy for them to carry.

Perhaps its not the weight of the torch. It may be that the flame doesn't burn as brightly.
