So has anyone played this game yet? Was wondering if it's any good as a practice tool to build up my skills. I am taking a course that covers theory, so I'm not too worried about that.

I've had Rocksmith for two weeks know and honestly, It's extremely fun. It's not really a tremendous practice tool other than the mini games. It does help you view the fretboard differently. If you like learning songs and want to try an unconventional method to learning them then go for it. If you've got the cash laying around, Go for it!

I may rent it, it seems interesting, i mean you cant beat the fact that you get an opportunity to learn a nice array of songs note for note, and it be accurate, plus im sure it helps timing and finger independence.

House of the Rising Sun
Cant Get No Satisfaction
Take Me Out
Use Somebody
Rebel Rebel
Sunshine of Your Love
In Bloom
Breed
Sweet Home Alabama
Higher Ground
Icky Thump
Under Cover of Darkness

just to name a few that intrest me, plus theres the fact of Downloadable Content will open up a new window of opportunity to learn accurate songs at a faster and more band appropriate pace, i mean in terms of learning songs to jam with a band on this setlist seems designed for nurturing it.

I want to try it. I have a ps3 collecting dust. Even if it is not advanced it would be fun to me. And I bet Rocksmith 2 will be more advanced if enough people get the first one.

My copy (xbox 360) is for sale LOL. No matter what I try, there is a small amount of lag between plucking the string and hearing the note in game. It is not bad at all on single note stuff, but on chugging rhythms, the lag will throw your timing way off. :( The mini games are fun, and maybe with a different TV than mine, or a different sound system, you can get lag-free results....but I doubt the game would ever be lag free due to the processing of the guitar signal. In any case, I suppose each person will have to try the game for themselves, cause it is WAY different than Rock Band or Guitar Hero. I don't think it is nearly as fun or polished. It is a neat concept though. I suppose you could learn guitar this way.....but anyone with guitar skills already will find the game starts of waaaaaayy to slow paced.

It's good. Not as strong a tool as the Squier/Rock Band 3 set, but the tradeoff of using any guitar makes it worth it. I just hate that I cant choose a difficulty and I have to play the song up to where it catches up to my skill level.

I've read that they are going to be doing a major reworking of the difficulty, so I am hoping that by the time I can get my hands on a copy it will be fixed.
