What are some of the tricks you know when playing guitar, like little things that add personality to your play? For me, my 3 favorites are the meow, the laugh, and the pickup screech.

Meow: Take some sort of wide, metal object and scrape the strings with the volume at 0 and turn up to 10 and back down really quick. Sounds best on clean with reverb at 10.

Laugh: Turn your gain to 10, slide up the fretboard on the little E up to the 20th fret, going back and forth down the fretboard.

Pickup Screech: (Works best on Stratocasters) Have your gain at 10 and your pickups at max height. Take your little E and press it as hard as you can on the poles of the neck and middle pickup and do heavy trem action. If done correctly, you'll get a heavy screech.

Lovely sounds here. I'm out for knowledge, so please share.

I just do them because they're kind of fun. I enjoy stretching the limits of my playing.

Really? I can't stand the squakyness of the bridge pickup. I only use it when I'm soloing. Otherwise it's all 4th position on my Strat and Rhythm selection on my Epi.

I dont exactly think I have a bag of tricks. I like to bend and slide but that's not really a bag of tricks is it. I am almost exclusively on the 4th position of my strat copy.

I HAAAAATE it when people mess with my tuning. I tune by ear and use my own tuning and it takes me a while to get it just right.

I keep a loaded .45 Colt Commander on top of my amp at gigs.

It keeps the drunks......polite.

Can you judge a really rough experimental recording I made? It was my first time playing clean. (Give it an "Out of 10" rating, and be honest!!)

It's terrible :X

I'm guessing it was somewhat decent. Clean isn't my thing. I'm a dirty boy. My normal type of sound is so, that if it was a person, they'd be ready to knock the $@!& out of some people.

I play strat hardtails and do a few fake tremelo tricks. I grab the back top of the body and shake it for a whang bar simulation just for visuals. (I could do it with my fingers...)

I bend a string with my fingers, but shake my right hand like I have a whammy bar.

I pull up the E string next to the B string with my right hand and fret them both under my third finger on my left hand. I then bend them both wildly. It is out of tune, but sounds like a whammy bar I don't really have. (this is why it is called a trick) :)

Sounds incredible! Sometimes I do bends above the nut. (Pushing on the string)

dont write in a particuallar key. keys really, really limit your creativity to come out, even if the end result still is in key, dont say 'its not in key, that means it sounds like $@!&', cause most of time, it doesn't it just sounds different.
