I'm still baffled how Hendrix and few others could play and do something else at the same time without stopping.

I've got an acoustic that I throw in the back of my MRAP when I go on any mission that ends at another FOB. I think there might be something wrong with me!

Apparently, I can go quite a while. The new job has me traveling a lot and when I'm in town the office hours are long and there's work at night . . . but at least it's a paycheck. I love music and I like to play. I'm logging less than a half hour a week on guitar these days and I'm doing absolutely no songwriting. :(

When do I get to retire?

Maybe you could get a little travel guitar (seen a guy with one), they're not great, but they work for their intended purpose....

Probably much later than your parents or grandparents before them.

Sometimes I may go a few days without playing but I always have to have a guitar within my reach.I don't think that I could go several days without having a guitar in my proximity whether I played it or not,it's probably psychological and the guitar has become a security blanket but if I don't have a guitar around I get very fidgety.

I rarely go 24 hours without playing. When I travel, I always bring a guitar if I can.

As far as you guys talking about getting annoyed when someone talks to you when you're playing, I have conversations all of the time while I play. In actuality, it pisses my wife off that I continue to play half the time, until she figures out that I'm actually listening and contributing to the conversation. I used to have problems with keeping everything going while talking to others or watching TV even, but after a while, you get used to it I think. At my house, you had better learn to do both or else you'll stop playing a lot. Nobody knows how to shut up.
