Very sorry to hear that. Was it a big one???

They do seem to be everywhere-there was one in Lancashire recently. About 2 or so on the richter scale, so not too big. Apparently caused by "fracking", something to do with extracting oil. Is that the reason for the earthquake in Oklahoma?

Oklahoma has a number of minor fault zones under it. OK get lots of quakes -- always has. But the vast majority of them are so weak that residents can't feel them. They're just little squiggles on the seismograph.

5.6 is a minor quake. No significant damage. Just barely enough to feel. Many residents didn't know about it until they heard it on the news. It wasn't far beyond their ordinary quakes.

5.6 is no minor quake. By all standards that is considered a moderate quake. Living here in So Cal and having been through many small 3s all the way to being about 50 miles away from the Landers 7.2 quake (felt like we were on the lid of a pot of boiling potatoes) 5 is far from minor. Although damage would be limited to brick and mortar and very early constructed structures, items falling off of walls and store shelves, you'd definitely feel a 5.

I hope all is well with those in Ok. We are way overdue here and the next one here will be quite substantial. We are late for a reoccurring quake in the Carrizo Plains area that tore the ground for over 200 miles back in 1857. Almost like clockwork there is a big one every ~150 years.

Keep water, food, cash, fuel and amo on hand because earthquakes come with no warning.

Here in Texomaland (about 150 miles from the epicenter), we felt both of the recent quakes (the second one especially), but both of them felt like a minor vibration (like a bunch of kids jumping up and down), and it was over before we even realized what it was.

I assumed it was related to the tantrum my sister-in-law threw after finding out there was no ice cream left in her freezer.

Danny,

Well, to be fair...she's lost a lot of weight. She's down to 36-24-36 measurements now. Of course, that's just her right leg, but...
