I feel so special.
I just held a $10,000 rare Gibson Custom Shop Ace Frehley signature model. I now have some serious GAS for a guitar I'll never have.
Anybody here have one of the 300?

I saw one of the Epiphone ones but never the actual Gibson.

Based on "KISS disdain" that flows though this site, plus the fact that it's Fender's site means you'll doubtful find someone who owns one of those on here.

I have a Paul Stanley Silvertone Acoustic in my collection, as close as I got.

This is not a knock on Ace or KISS...I wouldn't pay $10K for any guitar if the basis of the price is that it's a "Signature" or "Artist" model.

I love Billy Gibbons, but the cost of that Pearly Gates copy Gibson put out last year was ridiculous. Even if I had the money, I wouldn't have paid that much.

I don't get the prestige of an artist signature guitar...

If an artist signature model has some features I cannot find or install otherwise, I would consider buying such an instrument...but to pay extra just because "Artist XYZ" endorsed or agreed to his likeness being used, no way.

Thus, I turned my Strat into my own signature model, which is "one of a kind"...I will sell it to you for $25,000.37, plus tax. Free shipping.

I'd buy your signature. I imagine the contour having some cool armadillo graphic that follows it.

+1

I personally would rather have a standard model and "Make It Mine" than have a clone of someone's guitar with their name on it. for that money you could get one built exactly the way you want. but to each their own

I guess guitars and computers are the same. It's much cheaper to buy the parts and DIY than to buy a pre-made, plus you know exactly what's under the hood.

No, it's not cheaper to do that with a guitar...if you start pricing the individual parts to truly assemble one just as you want, you'll need some serious coinage.

My "signature Strat" started life as a US-made '62 reissue and I just kept modifying it until it was what I wanted.

I understand not wanting to pay that price for a guitar, but it was originally sold for $6000. It just appreciated in price. I know it's very possible to make your own clone of a signature model, but me being a hard core KISS and Ace Frehley fan I want that guitar. It's unique, and I know where one is. Now I don't have nearly enough money for one, but I still want.

It is my goal to work up cash enough next summer (still a young student) to get my hands on the Epi Ace. It's just too hard to find one.

Good luck on your quest, if you're a hard core fan then the $$ makes sense to you.

Personally, my ultimate item for the KISS collection that I want to get my hands on would be the original full size arcade pinball machine, and those are only about $3k if you can find one 8)

I have a pinball machine now, but not that one!
