He's a damn good drummer though.

I hooked up the footswitch. It's really nice. First amp with a foot switch, woo.

Welcome to big amp world! My first amp with a footswitch was a Marshall MG100DFX.

Never... ever... again..!

Doesn't feel like a big world. I love the slow deep flange with reverb

I've got the very same amp - bought it used about a year ago, cleaned it all up and it all works great, love the tuner on top that's always on and the mute button. With the three channels and all the other bells and whistles, it is quite an amp and really cranks out the sound. I've gigged with it more than a few times.

It's in the middle on the bottom in the pic above. Sitting on top of the GLX-65 is another Crate amp, a FANE equipped Crate, Model G60XL, that is also a tremendous amp, though with just two channels and reverb. It has superb overdrive tones without ridiculous volume.

Aren't the controls really confusing at times? It's so strange. I turn up the gain on the Rhythm channel and it turns up the volume. I love it though. It has great tone all around. I get a great surf tone too. I might do a bit of experimentation in the near future.

If I was you, I would download the manual - I did that right after I bought the amp. Your three channels have individual memory, so that however you set each up it will remember all of your settings, even if you change the settings on the other channels. That way you can have each channel get progressively louder as you move toward the lead channel through the foot switch, a must-have in live gig settings. That's much of what makes this such a good and versatile amp.

That's how it works- the gain & volume controls work against each other. So... if you want to balance the clean & distorted sounds, you adjust the gain first to get the sound you want, then bring the volume up/down to either match or go slightly above the clean channel. There's nothing worse than someone who can't get their levels right...

Got given the Crate GX120 head and cab to play round Europe years back.

Good robust, versatile gigging amp. I had no complaints what so ever.

Yeah! Turning on the red control lights in a dimly lit bar is a great eye-catcher and people are always coming up and asking about it. Crate makes some great amps, no question.

I bet if you got under the hood, you could swap those red LEDs for some soothing purple pretty easily. I'm no tech though, so I'll leave it at red. I like it because it plays very well when quiet. I still get really clear sound and when I'm jamming with people on Skype they can hear it too.

I used to have 2 Crate amps in the 80's. At the time they were inexpensive but good. Talk about crystal clear cleans, dirty channel not that great, but took pedals well on the clean. Awesome reverb, decent delay, and crappy chorus. They had a cool button called Bright. I had those amps until the turn of the centry, then they started to go out. Crate must have gone down by then because I could not find a suitable replacement within the Crate line.

Your looks cool. What year is it?

I think it's only a couple years old. Anywhere from 2008 to 2009 I'm guessing. My friend had it since it was new but then his guitar got stolen at a gig so he started singing.
