Just sort of pondered this for a bit. Wanted to know what you guys say. I'd think yes.

I don't think that Jimi would use any kind of a locking trem, especially one with a locking nut.Jimi used the whole guitar to create a lot of his eerie effects and used the vibrato springs by flicking them with his fingernails or strumming the pick over them.He often did above the nut bends even while diving the vibrato arm sometimes. As well Jimi would pluck the strings above the nut while diving the Vibrato to get weird harmonics. The standard Fender vibrato was too much a part of his sound to get rid of it for a Floyd.

He would likely have gone through many guitars between then and now had he lived. It's very possible he would've used every bit of new technology he could along the way.

+1

I'd go so far as to opine "likely".

Jimi was quite the innovator.

I say he would have at least tried it out...he might not have stuck with it, due to the limitations of the mechanism (not able to play/bend behind the nut, unable to de-tune on the fly, etc)...

If Hendrix had lived, he might have gone on to other instruments (like synths) or newer forms of guitars (like a Parker Fly), but he might have stuck it out with Strats.

But we'll never know. Kids, don't drink while taking sleeping pills.

Ahhh, the Parker Fly. I know a dude who has one. Sadly, it isn't one of the redwood ones. Pretty cool guitar though. I love the open headstock.

I just can't imagine he'd still be bothering with a guitar when computers and synths can do so much more.
