I want to see how loud this baby can get, but I don't want to smoke the speaker. It goes up to 10, but does that really mean you can play with it at 10? Putting distortion at 10, Volume at 10, and Master at 10, isn't that a little more then 10? Thanks 8)

I have a Mustang II by the way.

speakers can tear. If the cone melts it stops working. The amp will get hot and have a smell.. Blue smoke can come out of an amp .

If you're going to put your amp on 10 I suggest that you get earplugs to protect your ears, they have to last a lifetime.Playing your amp for"short"periods with everything on bust "shouldn't" hurt anything but you never know for sure.I've had my 50 W Marshalls at full tilt boogie but you don't want to be in the same room.I have yet to dime my 120W Vox AD120 VTH as the prospect is a bit scary.

I sat in front of 2 fullstacks with Jerry Only and Dez Cadena, ripping on bass and guitar for a couple hours. No ear plugs. Great concert though. A little Asian kid jumped on stage and hopped on Jerry's back and he just played along and yelled "Awww! You got me!" in the middle of the song. I recommend seeing The Misfits in concert.

Having no experience whatsoever with a Mustang amp I have no idea what you should expect. In the world of tube amps turning all the controls up as far as they can go is called "diming" the amp. A dime is 10 cents, the numbers usually go up to 10, hence the term diming. A lot of (tube) amps sound awesome when dimed. Like I always told my parents, "If I'm too loud you're too old."

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I have a Warwick bass amp on which the gain and volume go to 12, crazy Germans.
As for the OP, ask an admiral how low his submarines can go.
Dime it, see what happens.
