I don't know why, but I really dislike the term "whammy bar". I prefer trem bar. I understand that this term comes from a Lonnie Mack song called Wham, but I still don't like the name. I also dislike the term "wang bar". I also don't like it when someone sells a guitar and their ad says "free whammy bar" or "comes with whammy bar". C'mon, if you have a tremolo bridge, doesn't it always have a trem bar?
Sorry, just had to get that off my chest.

A lot of trem arms get lost over the years. And it can be hard to find a replacement that fits and is bent the same way as the original (especially on off-brand imports). So it's actually a pretty good thing when the seller includes an arm that fits (it's not a super important big deal, but it's nice not having to track down the right arm for that particular guitar).

I suppose thats true, but the way it sounds is like they are throwing in something to sweetin the deal, when it should have it to begin with.

Whammy bar doesn't bother me. "Quarter note", "half note", etc does, but thats mostly prevalent in drummers and Americans rather than a guitarist thing.

Technically "tremolo bar" is a misnomer too as tremolo is caused by fluctuations in volume and whereas the "whammy bar" causes variations in pitch "vibrato bar" would be the proper terminology.

MOJO.....For that definition you would have to ask a true old school blues man.

It is in reference to another favorite pastime, but if you go to New Orleans or deep down in the Blues Belt you will understand......
