When winding pickups, if you use different gauge copper wire but wind them to the same resistance will they sound different? Any pickup pros out there?

The short answer is yes. Martian would be the man to answer this in detail, but here is an interesting article that may answer your questions in the meantime. :)

Good info. Thanks guys. I'm thinking that pickups with the same resistance but different gauge wire will be equal output but different tone(not sure though). Probably treble response, but I'm not sure witch way. Also, It would be cool to know how the different options in pickup building would effect power and tone. Like how much resistance does a slug coil have to have to cancel noise and such? Oh well, this could go on forever.

Right, the difference will be the treble response.

Wound to the same resistance, the coil with thinner wire will have lower inductance, so more treble.

We typically see different gauge wire in the Telecasters. Tele neck pickups use 43 AWG while Tele bridge pickups use 42 AWG (thicker).
