I Don't know if it was the movie that you were talking about but some months ago I watched a documentary about the making of Steinways.I found it very interesting.There is an incredible amount of skill and work that goes into the making of one of these masterpiecesAlthough guitar is my main instrument I've always had at least one keyboard instrument in the house.I'm completely self taught and learned by transposing guitar chord notes to the piano.

There is an excellent series of CDs called Steinway Legends that features some of the world's greatest pianists playing Steinways.I have one with Vladimir Horowitz that is incredible and worth buying just for his interpretation of Chopin's Polonaise in A flat OPus 53 commonly refered to as "The Heroic".

The set is produced for The Musical Heritage Society but may be available in stores on the Deusche Gramophon label.

My wife and I saw that documentary shortly after we signed up for Netflix and loved it. Very well done... Not a "how it's made" nuts and bolts thing, but much more about the heart and soul of the instrument. Good call, guitslinger.
