3806 songs
8:21:02:49 total time
23.03 GB

Yet not nearly enough. Hell, if I bought everything on my wishlist it would easily double the size of my library.

If all goes well I'll hit AT LEAST 10,000 songs by the end of 2012.

I need to get a job so I can fund this.

Do you have a ton of long songs or just a lot of 320 kbps fies?

I'll be spending the next week re-importing all of my CDs to iTunes in glorious 320 kbps... Unfortunately, anything I've bought on iTunes has to stay at inglorious 256 because iTunes Store is afraid of high quality :?

I don't get why ppl download music. I buy a CD if I like the band and if I don't like them, I don't have a CD of them. I even got CDs of artist I hate.

I rip mp3s from cds by my computer and put them on my phone by usb cable.... My phone is my mp3 player basically

im totally against downloading, i agree, its just that theres not a decent CD store within 100 km of me.
whenever i get a chance, i do pick one up though. having a CD's is 100000 times better than having it digitally.

Well....

- If I bought everything I'd be homeless
- I'm not going to store thousands of f***in CDs
- A lot of awesome s*** is out of print
- Buying MP3s is often cheaper
- Stores do not always have what you want, and I'm sure as hell not waiting months for them to stuff in stock. Also, no store will ever have a bunch of the hipster s*** I listen to, so that's an issue as well.

Started collecting CDs seriously in the 80s when they first started producing them.

Songs in computer - 39,800 + or -
118+ gigs (saved as WMA files) last time I checked.
Months...

CDs in collection after selling 500 on eBay 3 years ago: 3,280.

I'm a musicaholic - I own (on CD) every song that made the Billboard Top 40 from 1955 through 1985.

I currently buy CDs only rarely now and usually just blues.

If I want the album then I'll usually buy the CD, just to have a little better control over the quality of the rip and compression to AAC (256kbs or 320 kbps, depending). If I could buy albums in Apple Lossless format, I would be happy to do that instead.

OTOH, if I just want a couple of songs here or there then, yeah, I'll go to the iTunes store (or Amazon MP3 store if necessary). I see no reason to buy albums full of filler. Esp. since digital downloads are now 256 kpbs. YMMV.

i do have some i-tunes downloaded. they are songs that i either can't find in stores or for a band that had that 1 song that i like. there's a lot of sixties' bands that i like 1 or 2 songs by, and it just doesn't make sense to get a whole cd-and that's if you can find them

I admire CRguitarman and his obvious love or music.Like him I love CD format but I have only about 700 CDs of rock/folk.blues etc. and about 400 classic.I don't have an i-pod or any other digital means of storing music and doubt I ever will as I'm a bit of a Luddite. Personally I don't see the point of downloading superfluous amounts of music as it is very doubtful in this fast paced day and age that you'll ever get time to listen to all of it. With my little treasure trove of music I still can't find enough time to listen to as much music as I'd like too,so I guess the answer to the original quetion is that yes you can have too much music.

BTW I also have about 500 Albums and 200 45s.

Hello, guitslinger and fellow music lovers!

I am home now and just checked my computer music stats:

42,190 songs in 3,224 folders, taking up 116G in WMA format. My ears can no longer hear any difference between WMA, WAVE or Lossless, so I chose the format that takes less space. My music computer does have a 1T HD now, but it's too late to go back.

I also have about 500 vinyl LPs and I recently bought a USB turntable and have started transferring some of those LPs to my computer - obviously I am only transferring those songs that were never released on CD (and I have plenty of those).

MUSIC ROCKS!
