Trying to recover from Sat. night gigs,my head is usually stopped up from the smoke...ears ringing and muffled, tired and thinking about having to start another week at work.....the weekends aren't long enough.
But a bad day away from work beats a good work day anytime!

Sunday is rehearsal/writing day with my longtime collaborator.

We start with a few numbers. "The Corry Bennett Blues Rotation" is a blues/rock based duo - guitar/keys or guitar/guitar. We play with drum and bass loops we 've pre-prepared on Logic or Reaper. We play the loops back with the big Roland looper pedal board, or a Novation loop matrix unit controlling a laptop. The guitars and keys are live with live vocals. We use a midi controlled Digitech vocal harmoniser for backing harmony vocals slaved off one of the lead vocals. It's the same set-up we use for our occasional gigs.

Then it's a writing/recording session for whatever more progressive project we may be working on at the time. We're lucky enough to have our own brick-built rehearsal and recording space in an outhouse building at my collaborator's home, so everything is permanently set and ready to go. We just walk in and play. A nil set-up time is a huge luxury. 8)

Make love. Bask in the afterglow. Rinse. Repeat.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Most of the people in my dorm are hungover and sleeping so it's somewhat quiet for a while. So nice.
