I just recently saw yngwie malmsteen live for the first time recently. He is as every bit as good as he says he is.Even if you do not like him or his playing his show was amazing in fact in my top 3 (and I go to at least one concert a month ever since I was 18).In videos/magazines he's always carried this arrogance but at least I truly think he appreciates his fans. Not becasue they deal with seeing him in leather pants and open chest shirt( though he should relly update his image imo) but to appreciate his god given talent. He threw out like 30 pics and I appreciate owning one (even though the pic he threw to me had his bassists name on it).I've never seen a band give more than a couple pics during a show and he unloaded them. Also, I still am in disbelief that he destroyed his guitar at the end of the show and then promptly handed it over to the only chick there that was pretty funny. It was an expirence I won't forget even though I know if Id see him agian even though in 3 years time it would be the same yngwie. Anybody else care enough about him these days to comment?

all guitars thrown on one pile.

Yeah, I have seen that video before and id only dream of owning those but i would not opt for more than one vintage white strat. As for his playing having no feeling is a bit harsh.I definitely think it does after seeing him live.It may just be you haven't heard but a few songs. For example if you heard his last album only I would agree then.

+ 1. I'll also add that for better or for worse, he's surely a Blackmore rip-off and that he looks rather foolish being overweight and middle aged, still clinging to that decades old style of dress of his. All the above notwithstanding, he still makes more money than I do and yet I have to continue working for a living.

Yngwie fan? Nope...guy is a complete wanker :!: :!: :!: Playing speedy scales for speeds sake is just stupid...heard one of his songs, you heard them all! Talk about NO musical taste...and probably the most arrogant guitarist out there...and with the least reason to be :!:

Malmsteen has become a joke as he's a caricature of what his image was back in the 80s. As jello stated,he's all speed and shows no feeling or expression in his playing. Granted he's a great guitar player in the same sense that a compuiter is a great mathematician-he has amazing skill but it is too sterile and clinical and lacking emotion, his overinflated ego and big mouth don't help his cause too much either.

He's a Skilled, dexterous, technical musician.

Why then, when I hear him, do I want to unplug his cord and wind it tightly around his fat neck ?

Yep I'm as much a Thingee fan as I am a SRV fan.

I've repeatedly tried to like both but find em to be too damn dull.

Wow I didn't expect this to go more towards the negative. For the record, I like many guitarists out there including the opening guitarist of this show td clark who is also very skilled in his own rite. How can he not have class though??Classical music has no class???I have always looked passed his goofiness and saw a person who defined bringing metal guitar playing in a classical sense.I make a b-line for the vocal songs and appreciate the instrumental melodies(they exist). The speed stuff though, I felt was always kind of an exaggerated reflection of the melody.Music is subjective though, I think thats we all care and listen. My purpose of writing though, was that I think he is starting to become a bit more humble and puts on a great show and was hoping possibly seeing if others had seen his relentless tour.I mean in chicago it was sold out so what does that tell all of you!!

Plays fast, can't write a decent song to save his life and he has Kazoo tone. Oh and he's an arrogant tool too. For me he's right up there with John Mayer.

I find his performances as enjoyable as a cracked tooth.

But then again, I hate shred for the most part.
