An unbelievable and truley talented slide and lead guitarist...and IMHO the ONLY guitarist that could really push Clapton and yet was able to play with him. Those two together ALWAYS played exactly what should have been played and could play around each other like it was one mind using 20 fingers! It would have been a wild ride had those two spent more time together than they did. He is certainly missed.

I have the Duane Allman Anthology in constant rotation.

Rest Easy, Mr Allman.

Going down slow!!!Simply Awesome "Loan me a Dime" The only reason I liked Boz Skaggs
I was a little disappointed in the 2nd anthology album. I think it was a money thing.

I've read that the Layla sessions were going kind of slow until Duane came in and like T2 said he pushed Eric to play better and the two created a masterpiece of guitar interplay and improv. jamming...I never get tired of hearing Duane's playing.
Thanks for the posts y'all...it seems we can still talk music here, even though lately this part of the forums has been hardly anything but children bickering.

The Fillmore East album was and still is my biggest single musical influence. I've never heard another instrumental that can touch that Liz Reed. Amazing, amazing stuff...
