Star Trek. I am addicted to it still. Yes, I am a nerd. Yes, even after all these years. Trekkie but not Trekker. I don't go to conventions and I don't own a uniform or a tri-corder. I don't belong to any clubs. I do have a tri-corder app for my iPhone though. I have the original series and all the movies on Blu-Ray plus Next Gen, DS9 and Voyager all on DVD and I sometimes catch myself looking at the box set of Enterprise on Amazon.com.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I can relate to the comic book thing. I'm a lifelong subscriber to MAD and read vintage comics sometimes.

BUT for real guilt....it is hard to beat Pall-Mall cigarettes or coffee with real cream and real white refined sugar! LOL.

I also like shooting a gun, any gun....but don't feel GUILTY about it. Anyone else ever fired a potato cannon?

I'm with yodacaster and BMW-KTM on this. I practically had all three original series Star Wars movies memorized when I was a kid. I was even guilty of dressing the part on occasion, and I own several plastic lightsabers. I also played all the Star Wars video games I could get a hold of, read every Star Wars novel at the library, and I have an action figure and comic book collection. In my defense, it did lead to something productive. I took up fencing and loved it. I haven't done it in a few years now that my life's taken a turn in a different direction. (Eat, sleep, work, school, guitar, repeat.)

I'm not quite as crazy when it comes to Star Trek, and my most extreme Star Wars mania is behind me but I still enjoy watching Star Trek when I get the chance. Thanks to netflix I'm about halfway through the Voyager series right now.

I also like reading. I can't start a book past six or I might be up until dawn reading.

So yes, if not for guitar I'd be a complete nerd.

RE The Monkees and The Beatles:No need in feeling guilty about liking either of them as between them they inspired millions to take up guitar or some other instrument. The Beatles were bona fide musical genuises and the Monkees even though refered to as the Prefab Four did start playing their own instruments from their second album onward.

Mike Nesmith had his song writing credits to numerous hits before the Monkees and wrote the song that jump started Linda Ronstadt's career-Distant Drum.

Peter Tork was a seasoned multi instrumentalist from the Greenwich Village scene.

Mickey Dolenz was the son of actor George Dolenz who played The Count Of Monte Cristo in the 50s TV series and Mickey starred in Circus Boy from the same era.In order to be able to play on the 2nd album onward he took a crash cours in drumming and found that he had a natural knack and learned in record time.

Davy Jones although not an instrumentalist was an accomplished actor in London's musical theatre and played starring roles in several award winning musicals.

Not sure this is a "guilty" pleasure... even some the biggest guitar/rock snobs regard journey as a truly talented rock band... Perry's vocals and Schon's guitar work... good stuff....

You can think of something more guilty than that

btw, I am a big Journey fan too...

I'm gonna have to agree with that myself. Journey was a great band and I'm a big fan as well. Don't forget Steve Smith as a drummer either. He was money!!

Wow Osrv, that’s so identical to me! Its exactly an hour and a half i get each day as well and that’s when i play my guitar or cello and the stress of the day (and the rest of the world generally) seems to disappear. Apart from that all my home guitar playing is quiet, unplugged and functional for getting idea’s out of my head. But that period between 5.30 and 7pm every day is MY time. Don’t get me wrong, I love lady clam, but I still treasure this time in between the day and the night.
