Netflix and youtube (full length concert videos that are popping up more and more every day). This is not necessarily a bad thing but it's bad when I spend more than 2 hours doing it when I should have been practicing guitar or exercising.

IMO youtube is just the most amazing thing and has gotten even better in just the last year as people have figured out they removed the 15 minute limit on vids.

People are putting up full concerts that were not there even 2 years ago. I swear it makes cable TV and even something like netflix unnecessary for a music lover like me.

Do an experiment: search youtube for any band you can think of by typing "[name of band] full show" and it's almost guaranteed you'll find at least 1 full length concert that's been uploaded by someone, often with decent stereo sound and HD vid. For some bands there are dozens of shows.

Even old stuff...way back to the 1960s. Want to see the Beatles' first US show? It's there. Full lenth Led Zep movie from the early 70s? It's there.

It makes it difficult to justify actually buying anything anymore.

Okay, let me chime in! To explain the crazyness of some of my secret addictions: I'm 47

I fall for (besides guitars):

TOMB RAIDER & RESIDENT EVIL (movies and games)

I own EVERY Star Trek DVD (all series, all seasons)

I get weak when I see sexy CG (computer generated 3D) Elves.

WAIT! IT GET'S WORSE:

I love Chinese Crested Dogs, especially the hairless ones. We have 3 of them!
(pictures on request)

I'm crazy for scrambled eggs with onions and peppers (hottttt!)

I'm a board game geek (Settlers of Catan, Tikal, Village etc....)

AND THE TOP RATED CRAZYNESS OF MYSELF:

I loved Piglet from the original A.A.Milne's Winnie Pooh when I was a child and STILL LOVE IT!!!!

THE GOOD NEWS:

Piglet used to be #2!
My top addiction was(!!!) DRAGON DICE (a collectible fantasy dice game). I had 3500 dice so I could put together EVERY possible dice combination in my dice armies with EVERY existing die in the game!
I've been so crazy about that game that I even asked to boss of the company if I would get permission to use DRAGONDICER as my musical artist name online!
I've overcome that addiction, sold most of them and have only about 600 left!
That left Piglet on pole position!

A guilty pleasure of mine is one that I started when my hands first got bad.For something to replace playing guitar,I renewed my interest in Vintage and Classic cars and bought several subscriptions to automotive magazines plus started buying books on vintage and classic cars and the monthly issues of the Dupont Registry and The Hemmings Automotive News. In just a little over 2 years I've also amassed a collection of over 100 diecast vintage and classic car models of 1/43,1/32,1/24,1/18 scale.I'm running out of room to display them but tomorrow morning I'm heading out to town with a pocket full of cash to buy up whatever I can afford to from a guy who's dismantling his large collection of 1/18 cars.

I don't drink or smoke and basically don't have any vices so I just poke away so much every month to indulge my latest guilty pleasure. This will keep me occupied somewhat until I can get my hands back in shape to play again-hopefully professionally again-then the GAS will be kicking in again no doubt and I'll have to find even more space for my gear acquisitions.

Here's a follow up to yesterday's post.I went to the home of the guy who collected 1/18 models not at all expecting to see the museum he had amassed.I only have about 100 die-cast models that are only worth about $2000 but this guy's collection must be worth at least $20,000 and he's selling it all.I didn't have a lot of money on me today but I did pick up a mint 1/18 '65 Pontiac GTO with the big block and 3 carbs,a 1/18 '69 Ford Torino Talladega with an authentic looking 428 engine,a 1/18 Porsche Cayman,a 1/24 '37 Ford pickup with a '65 Mustang convertable on a trailer. The models would have cost me over $200 to buy new but I got them for a great price and only wish that I had more.He would rather sell the whole collection as one lot but sold me the few I wanted as a favour I guess. He would consider selling smaller lots of about $500 at a time but I don't have that kind of cash around right now.I told him that if I win the lottery tomorrow night I'm going to clean him out.He has many of the now defunct classic brands such as Studebaker, Cord,Duesenberg,Pierce-Arrow,Packard etc. If I hadn't bought the AC-15 when I did I certainly would've cleaned out all his Packards and Studes.

I have several

I missed it when it was on Television but this last week just finished watching the entire First Season of "Once Upon A Time" and really enjoyed it.

I also succumb to an adrenaline rush around Fighter Planes.

Really old Sci-Fi ... anywhere from the 20s up through the mid-60s. That includes anything from the Flash Gordon (and similar) serials and classics like "The Blob" and "Creature From the Black Lagoon". I don't care for a lot of the modern Sci-Fi -- either too realistic and/or strays too far into horror.

That and a big fat juicy cheeseburger now and then (I'm supposed to be watching my weight).
