Doncha just love some of the silly assed words that get censored and yet assed is just fine and pissed and a few others but a word that starts with N and rhymes with lip is taboo. (I assume that's what you typed) Like there's only one single possible use for that word and it never ever means anything else except that one thing which is derogatory to folks born several thousand miles west of here. Good thing there's nobody from Winnipeg here cuz that word means a hamburger there. Yah, a ground beef patty in a bun.

Whats up with that? Is ^IP a dirty word? I can't believe that one. I grew up with that, Irish family and all, sisnce when is a *IP in your coffe a bad word? There are even hard candies called NIPS

Yep. |\|ip is a bad, evil word. There's another one too and it's a really useful word that I normally use a lot but you can't use it here. It starts with SL and rhymes with hope. Try discussing an angle or a grade or a roof line. Try discussing pot taper. Try discussing a line on a graph or any ratio. Try discussing rise over run. There's a really useful word in our language for those things but it is banned here along with a few others that make just as much sense. Somebody with an IQ of 6 came up with that nasty word list. (Did you know it takes 7 just to fart without soiling your underwear?)

There's a lot o' deep, fresh pain behind those words for some people. Fender probably didn't just take those words off the list cuz somebody merely complained... They probably received a heart wrenching plea from those who were victims of those words. Try spelling the words phoneticishly: slowp & nihp. After a while, everybody who wants to use those words will get it and hopefully, nobody will be offended.

I guess I never heard of N*P in a derogatory manor, i have of Sl*ope. Growing up in an Irish family, and community in New York, a N*P was a shot of liquor.

I have heard that those words can be used to slight people but I've never actually heard it done right in front of me. I don't even think I would know the right way to say it. It's like anything else that's PC; you hear about it before you hear about it.

I'd like to think that with the mostly good bunch of people here those words would not be used for purposes other than their real meanings and if it should ever happen that they were used in a hurtful way I think the other board members would get on someone's case about it pretty quickly and the issue would be dealt with without resorting to censorship. We do have flamers and trolls here from time to time but open bigotry is not a problem we routinely encounter. The flaming and trolling is usually related to music or politics, not nationality. It could be a very easy thing to police and I doubt there would be any public outcry, even from Gorgon, if an openly bigotted person was banned from the site.

I think the term "guilty pleasure" is the equivalent to caring about other people think of you, which is best to avoid in most cases. The only opinion that matters is your own and perhaps your significant other and those close to you that are worthy. Individualism is a great thing.

OH... I don't. They're all collector cars - the '90 325is has 23k on it, the '76 2002 has 27k and the '90 964 has 26k mi on the clock. Each is iconic and great to drive... but all for different reasons.

Sorta like a Strat, a LP and a Tele.. !!

cheers!
