So last night I put up 2 of 3 wall hangers. I used the long screw provided and replaced the short one with one of equal length to the long one. I made sure to find the stud and it felt like they went in good, maybe a half inch or so. I hung the guitars and I must have check on them about 3 or 4 times to make sure they were still on the wall. I woke up this morning and checked again. Yep, they are still there! Now I am at work and I am paranoid about them coming off the wall. If I remove them to install them with an even longer screw, will I risk stripping the hole I have currently drilled?
Here is the brand I used, Apex by Yorkville.

If you're that worried, go to your local guitar shop and ask them how many times the guitars have spontaneously fallen off the walls...

Leave your guitars in their cases and hang up heavy weights for a week - 10lb to 14lb should do it. If they`re still there after a week take `em down and hang up your axes. Worry over! :)

I think this is the best test.
Thanks!

The idea of hanging a weight makes a lot of sense. I did something similar the first time I put up one of those tv brackets on the wall, ya know when TV's had tubes and had some real weight to them. :D

I've got some scrap wood kicking around. I think I'll throw together a guitar shaped wood contraption and hang it to give it a test!

I don't work out, so no dumbell. I can't say I've ever purchased a bowling ball either!

Oh, you'll be fine. For the last 10 years, I've always hung my guitars.

None of them have ever fallen off a wall.

Trick is, if you're using drywall, locate the joist/beam inside. Use that, and I guarantee (unless you're Frank Spencer) your guitars will be just fine.

If you know you got the stud and it bit in a half inch solid on both screws,it aint going anywhere.

You'll be fine Yoda. I used drywall anchors on mine and they've never fallen. If you're hitting the studs you're in even better shape. :D

I'm just a little paranoid. The first one I put up still moved, so I relocated it slightly and it still moved. Relocated again and it still moved. Tried one more time and it was solid. There are alot of holes underneath that hanger. I'll be doing some mudding and painting if the next owner of my house is not a guitar player!
The second one went up with no issues. We'll see how the third goes tonight!

I've been hanging mine on string swings (I have 7 of them) for about the past 8 years... never an issue... And I have 2 11lb les pauls..

worst case scenario, ones that are anchored (not in stud) may (but unlikely) start to come loose... And you will notice that before anything bad happens... Only one of mine is anchored... I put my acoustics on that one... This one is NOT coming loose at all...

Not to worry, if you got it into the stud, your good to go...I have had mine hanging for years...never had a single problem.
